Question

Can a Christian lose their salvation?

Answer

A Christian does not need to live in fear of losing salvation, because the Bible teaches that salvation is God’s gift, secured by His power and promise. Jesus declared that those who belong to Him will never be snatched out of His hand (John 10:28–29), and Paul assures believers that nothing can separate them from the love of God in Christ (Romans 8:38–39). Salvation rests on Christ’s finished work at the cross, not on human effort, and the Holy Spirit seals believers as a guarantee of their eternal inheritance (Ephesians 1:13–14). This means that once someone is truly saved, their salvation is secure, and they can live with confidence, peace, and joy, knowing that God who began the good work will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). In short, assurance of salvation is the believer’s certainty that God’s grace holds them firmly, now and forever.
